Bellamy Promoted To Kannapolis

By John Norris

2009 5th round draft pick Kyle Bellamy has been promoted to Kannapolis from Bristol. In three relief appearances for the BriSox, he had 1 save and 2 k’s in 3 innings pitched, without giving up any hits or runs. The right-hander didn’t allow a baserunner.

  1. So I guess Jared Mitchell being placed on the DL wasn’t a roster management move due to there not being any open spots in Kannapolis.

  2. Bellamy will fly through the system. I just hope he can get more advanced hitters out. I have faith in his ability to dominate A ball. He has a good shot to be in AA sometime next season.

  3. Yeah he should move quickly but he has one scary looking delivery, I really wouldn’t be surprised if he blows his arm out at some point.

  4. It’s possible, but he has low mileage on his arm in terms of when he started the sidearm delivery. I think it was a pretty good 5th round pick. A lot of people didn’t care for it, but I really like him.

  5. We’ve been drafting a lot of side-arm relievers. I guess we are looking for the next Kelly Wunsch or Chad Bradford, or we really like the type of pitcher Joe Smith is.
