It’s funny, he seemed to be modest about his pitching, but almost wanted to brag about his hitting. Go figure.

I found it interesting that he said he threw only a 4-seam fastball. From the video I’ve seen, he’s got really good natural movement on that fastball. I was expecting to find out he threw 2-seamer or something along those lines.

Some really interesting answers here particularly on his his stuff and pitching mentality. There’s an awful lot to like from Hudson, great K rates, walk rates, his ground ball have been tailing off though as he’s moved up through the system but that should be offset by the strong K rate.

I forgot to mention, but Dan wanted to thank FutureSox for the questions.

The two things I really liked about him were:

1.) He seemed to be a really down to earth guy.

and

2.) He seems to be a real student of the game who loves baseball.

In addition, Hudson is hands down the most exciting pitching prospect the Sox have had in there system since DLS and before that McCarthy. Which says something given that Poreda is already pitching well at the major league level. But there is just something to be said about guys that weren’t top picks that just put up insane numbers.
