Scouting report
Morel is better known for his defense than his bat as a prospect, but he is certainly a capable hitter. The Sox have moved him quickly through the system and he has held his own offensively. He raised his profile by winning the batting title in the Arizona Fall League in 2009 and the Sox could view him as their future 3rd baseman. He doesn’t have big power, but projects to have at least average power and has started to show that this year. He is faster than most third basemen and is an above average baserunner allowing him to steal some bases in the minors. He has good range to go with his plus arm. John Sickels threw out a possible Joe Randa comparison, but Morel looks to hit a few more home runs and hit for less average, but that doesn’t seem out of line.

Major League Outlook: Average starting 3B
