2006 MLB Draft Review

We’re around one month removed from the 2009 MLB draft and I thought it could be fun to cast our minds back three years and do a review of the 2006 MLB draft. I’m going to go over the players who signed from the first ten rounds as well as any other notable selections.


Kyle Colligan Off to Blazing Start for Great Falls

The former Texas A&M outfielder is off to a hot start with the Voyagers. Colligan, a 12th round pick, is one of quite a few athletic outfielders drafted by the Sox in the ‘09 draft.


Draft Report: Nick Ciolli

Nick Ciolli was one of two Indiana State prospects along with Brady Shoemaker drafted by the White Sox in the 2009 draft, they also selected a childhood friend of Ciolli’s, Josh Phegley, out of Indiana.


Draft Report: Daniel Black

Dan Black was drafted by the Sox in the 14th round out of Purdue after a very successful college career. He spent a large amount of his time at Purdue playing catcher. The White Sox have other plans for him, drafting him as a first baseman, where he started his pro career.


Draft Report: Ryan Buch

Eighth round pick Ryan Buch out of Monmouth University is as interesting as any Sox pick after the first day. The 6-3 junior from tiny Monmouth College, ranked 90th in the country by Baseball America, fell into the Sox laps into the 8th round.


Draft Report: Justin Collop

Justin Collop, the sixth round pick of the Sox from Toledo, sounds like a guy ready to sign.


5th Round Pick Kyle Bellamy Named First Team All-American

The Miami Hurricane reliever has been receiving a slew of postseason awards.
