Sox Take Bryan Morgado in 3rd Round

With their final pick of the first day of the draft, the Sox selected their first college pitcher. Bryan Morgado, a 6’3” 203 pound lefty from Tennessee, was taken 102 overall.


Sox Select David Holmberg

With the 71st pick overall in the MLB Draft, the Chicago White Sox took left handed starting pitcher David Holmberg from Port Charlotte High School in Port Charlotte, Florida.


Sox Select OF Trayce Thompson in 2nd Round

With the 61st overall pick the White Sox grabbed high school outfielder Trayce Thompson.

Thompson is a 6’4” 200 pound righty is from Rancho Santa Margarita, California (LA area) and has committed to UCLA.


White Sox Select Josh Phegley with 38th Pick

With the sixth pick in the Compensation A round, 38th overall, the Chicago White Sox selected Josh Phegley, a catcher out of Indiana University. The 21 year old junior catcher becomes the second Hoosier taken in this year’s draft and he joins Jared Mitchell as one of the top Sox picks.


White Sox Select Jared Mitchell with 23rd Overall Pick

For the 8th straight year the White Sox took a college player with their first pick. Speedy LSU outfielder Jared Mitchell was taken 23rd overall by the Pale Hose.
