It's unfair to take much from Mitchell's rating, but scouting reports around the time of the draft said his speed should make him a good defender eventually. Key word eventually. So it's reasonable to assume his numbers would be mediocre and that he can become very good.

Yeah, the turnover has been impressive. Baseball America's 2013 projected lineup (which assumes no trades) had Danks, Mitchell, Flowers, Morel and Hudson on there. With Beckham, Quentin and the mostly young starting rotation I really like the future. The Sox don't need all of these prospects to be big hits, probably don't even need half and that's a great position to be in.

Interesting that most of our top 5 prospects haven't been in our organization for over a year. Viciedo, Flowers, Hudson, MItchell, Thompson. I think that is a solid group of prospects.

Socolovich finished up with Winston-Salem. He did pitch well the short time he was in Birmingham though.

This makes three out of the last four Rickwood Classic starting pitchers to be traded. Tyler Lumsden in 2006, Gio Gonzalez in 2007 and John Ely in 2009.

Grant Desme transferred to Cal Poly after a year at San Diego State. While at Poly he played right field while Morel played at third and second.

While at Cal Poly, Desme was named Big West Players of the Year, Won the Big West Conference's triple crown and was the only first team D-I All-American in the Western US and State of California. If not for having had his wrist broken by a errant pitch in the next to last series of his junior year, Desme, who put up unreal numbers would have been a first round draft pick.
